Project Background

PT Berau Coal operates one of Indonesia's largest coal mining concessions in East Kalimantan, with multiple mining blocks, offices, and support facilities spread across a large operational area. PT Natha Buana Indonesia was engaged to design and deliver a Full Managed Service microwave network covering 14 radio links.

Network Scope: 14 Radio Links

  • LMO Area: New Office LMO – BSMS KM7, BSMS KM7 – SMF BBR
  • GMO Area: CPP GMO – SMF BBR, Mining GMO – TWR SMF GMO
  • SRN Area: SMF KM28 – KM7 SRN, KM7 SRN – SMF BBR
  • BBR Core: SMF BBR – Head Office Berau Coal
  • BM Sites: BM01 Office – Head Office, BM02 Office – Lamin
  • Support: SMMO Office – Head Office, Samburakat – Head Office

Managed Service Commitments

  • 99.5% network availability SLA
  • On-site engineering team stationed at the nearest basecamp
  • Response time under 2 hours from fault notification to technician on-site
  • Preventive maintenance: quarterly equipment inspection and antenna realignment
  • 24/7 NOC with remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and real-time alerts
  • Spare parts inventory maintained on-site: 10–20% of installed equipment quantity

NBID's reference deployment at BIB Angsana (9 radio links) achieved 99.5–100% actual availability over 3 years of operation. Based on this performance, the contract was extended as a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) for an additional 3 years.
